Open Class (previous experience required)

🕗 Every Wednesday from 8:00–9:00 PM

Course Duration

• Each lesson lasts 60 minutes.

• A course period runs for 6 weeks.

• Single drop-in lessons are possible in the Open Class.

Course Content

The class focuses on partnerwork and musicality in social dancing. We teach short, social-dance-friendly sequences that can be combined flexibly and creatively. Quality clearly takes priority over quantity. There is plenty of time for practice, individual questions, and personal feedback.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of Salsa On1 or On2 is required.

Entry

You may join the Open Class at any time.

Basic Course (no previous experience required)

Course Duration

One course period consists of 6 evenings of 60 minutes each.
Single lessons are not available, except for the trial class, which may be attended once.

Course Content

We will familiarize you with the rhythm and teach you the fundamental steps required for the basic figures. You will learn the essential techniques of leading and following.

The following figures are included:

• Basic Step

• Cross Body Lead

• Right and left turn

• Inside and outside turn

The pace of the course is adapted individually to the participants.

Requirements

No prior experience is necessary. Just bring your enthusiasm for Latin jazz–influenced salsa music and movement.

Partner Policy

Ideally, you register with a dance partner. If you sign up alone, we will try to find a partner for you, but we cannot guarantee this.

In salsa, it is common to rotate partners during class in order to practice both leading and following. This way, everyone gets the opportunity to dance. Of course, no one is forced to change partners.

Course Fees

Single Workshop (Open Class only):
CHF 35.– / CHF 30.– for association members

6 × 60-minute course pass:
CHF 170.– / CHF 150.– for association members

*The fee applies to a continuous 6-week course.
Missed lessons are non-refundable and cannot be carried over.

Course participants receive discounted entry to the party afterwards:
CHF 10.– instead of CHF 15.–

About Salsa New York Style On2

Salsa New York Style On2 is a dynamic and elegant partner dance that emerged in New York in the 1970s. A defining characteristic of this style is dancing “on the line” and its distinctive timing: the first accented forward step is taken on the second beat of the music—hence the name “On2.”

The Music

In the 1950s, Latin American immigrants brought their music to New York. Through the fusion with jazz elements, salsa was born. The word “salsa” means “sauce” and symbolically represents a rich blend of different rhythms.
