Salsa On2 New York Style classes

On behalf of the association we teach every Wednesday evening at El Social in Zurich.

Basic course

Wednesday 19:00–20:00 · 📍 El Social

No experience needed

We get you used to the rhythm and teach you the basic steps and figures: basic step, cross body lead, right and left turn, inside and outside turn – plus the most important techniques of leading and following. We adapt the pace to the group.

A course period has 6 evenings of 60 minutes. Single lessons are only possible on the first evening, as a trial.

Open Class

Some experience

Focus on partnerwork and musicality in social dancing: short sequences that work well on the floor and can be combined freely. Quality before quantity, with time to practise, ask questions and get personal feedback.

Requirement: basic Salsa On1 or On2. Join any time – single lesson or a pass for 6 lessons in a row.

Dance as often as you like

Half-year and year pass

All our classes, every week – Basic and Open Class. Half-year CHF 450, year CHF 750, membership included.

Get a pass

Membership costs CHF 30 a year – with two passes it has already paid for itself. Join the association

Partners

Ideally you bring a partner. If you register alone, we try to find someone for you, but can't guarantee it. In salsa it is common to change partners during class – it helps you learn both leading and following. Of course nobody is forced to.

Registration and payment

Registration is required and binding – simply online with the "Register" button of the class. Pay directly online (TWINT, card, bank transfer) or on the evening in cash or with TWINT. Members automatically pay the member price.

Passes are valid for 6 lessons in a row.
Missed lessons are not refunded.
We don't offer free trial lessons.
If a class is full, you go on the waiting list and get an e-mail as soon as a place is free.

About Salsa New York Style On2

Salsa New York Style On2 is a dynamic and elegant partner dance that developed in New York in the 1970s. It is danced on a line, and the first accented step falls on the second beat of the bar – hence the name "On2".

The music

In the 1950s Latin American immigrants brought their music to New York. Mixed with jazz, it became salsa – "sauce", a colourful mix of rhythms.

Why dance salsa?

Salsa reduces stress, lifts your mood and trains coordination, concentration and spatial thinking. Above all, it brings together people of all ages and cultures.
